Will "Martinez" join the list of the top ten football legends before the Champions League final?

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 10 PM, Manchester City will face Inter Milan at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, in the final of the UEFA Champions League for the 2022-2023 season.

The Argentine striker, Lautaro Martinez, led the Italian team Inter Milan to reach the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in 13 years. He secured the victory for his team with a goal against Milan in the second leg of the quarter-finals, resulting in a 3-0 aggregate score in favor of Inter.

Martinez is now on the verge of making history in football if he manages to lead his team to win the European title. There is a historic list consisting of only nine players who have won both the World Cup and the Champions League in a single season.

Martinez previously won the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022 with the Argentine national team. If he succeeds in winning the Champions League, he will become the tenth player to achieve both the World Cup and the Champions League titles in a single season.

Six players, Sepp Maier, Paul Breitner, Hans-Georg Schwarzenbeck, Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeneß, and Gerd Müller, achieved this feat together as they won the World Cup with West Germany and the European Cup with Bayern Munich in the 1973-1974 season.

Christian Karembeu joined this list in the 1997-1998 season after winning the World Cup with the French national team and the Champions League title with Real Madrid.

Roberto Carlos won the Champions League with Real Madrid in the 2001-2002 season, followed by the World Cup with Brazil.

Additionally, the French defender Raphael Varane joined the historic list in 2018 after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid and then the World Cup with the French national team in Russia.
