AC Milan announces the long-term absence of Ismael Bennacer after undergoing surgery

Italian club AC Milan has announced the long-term absence of their Algerian player after he underwent knee surgery.

Bennacer sustained a severe injury during Milan's (0-2) loss against Inter in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals last Wednesday.

In an official statement, Milan confirmed that the Algerian midfielder successfully underwent surgery on his right knee in Lyon, France, on Tuesday.

The statement mentioned that Ismael Bennacer will require a recovery period of at least 6 months, which means he will be out of action for a considerable period, possibly extending until the middle of the next season.

It's worth mentioning that Bennacer (25 years old) joined Milan in the summer of 2019 from Empoli in Italy and recently extended his contract with the Rossoneri until 2027.

The Algerian player has featured in 40 matches for Milan this season across various competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists.
