Liverpool concludes the Premier League with a 4-4 draw against Southampton, featuring Mohamed Salah

 

Liverpool, the English team featuring the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, drew 4-4 with Southampton in a match held at St. Mary's Stadium, as part of the 38th and final round of the 2022-2023 Premier League season.

Liverpool took a 2-0 lead with goals from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino in the 10th and 15th minutes.
However, Southampton managed to score two consecutive goals in the 19th and 28th minutes through James Ward-Prowse and Kamaldeen Sulemana.


Southampton then scored the third and fourth goals through Kamaldeen Sulemana and Adam Armstrong in the 48th and 64th minutes.

Liverpool equalized through goals from Takumi Minamino and Diogo Jota, assisted by Mohamed Salah, in the 72nd and 73rd minutes of the match.


Liverpool's lineup was as follows:

Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Gomez, Tsimikas, James Milner, Fabinho, Jones, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Jota.

Liverpool currently occupies the fifth position in the English Premier League table with 67 points, while Southampton sits in 20th and last place with 25 points.

For both teams, the match served as a formality as Liverpool's participation in European competitions next season was confirmed, despite failing to secure a qualifying spot for the UEFA Champions League. Southampton, on the other hand, played their final match in the English Premier League before being relegated to the Championship.

Liverpool experienced fluctuations in their results throughout this season's English Premier League matches, playing 38 games, winning 19, drawing 10, and losing 9 matches.
