Official: Real Madrid Signs Jude Bellingham for $143 Million

Real Madrid, the Spanish La Liga giants, officially announced on Wednesday via Twitter their signing of English midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Real Madrid shared several pictures of the player wearing the club's jersey without revealing the financial details or the contract duration.

Earlier this month, German club Borussia Dortmund had announced that they had agreed to sell Bellingham to the Spanish giants in a massive deal.

According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, the English player has moved to Real Madrid for a fee of €103 million, plus variables.

On the other hand, the British newspaper Daily Mail stated that the Spanish club signed Bellingham for £113 million or approximately $143 million.

The 19-year-old player, who has been linked with several top European clubs, joined Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 for a fee of £25 million ($31.17 million), becoming the most expensive 17-year-old in the history of football.

Due to his dynamic and energetic style of play, coupled with his composure on the ball despite his young age, Bellingham quickly became a key player for Dortmund and an integral part of their midfield.

England manager Gareth Southgate made Bellingham the youngest English player to represent his country in a major tournament during Euro 2020.

Bellingham swiftly became a regular starter in England's midfield, featuring in all five matches at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, before England exited the competition in the quarter-finals against France.

Bellingham has been linked with English Premier League clubs that were keen to bring him back to his home country, including Liverpool, whose manager Jurgen Klopp stated that the team had to withdraw from the race to sign the player due to his price tag.
